A few shots from the York World Naked Bike ride – a fantastic annual event helping to raise awareness of the vulnerability of cyclists on the road.
As a cyclist in York myself, this is an event that I’m always happy to support through my work.
The cyclists performed a ‘Die-In’ – a theatrical piece where each cyclist lay down as if hit by a vehicle as names of all the cyclists killed on roads in the past year were read out.
Thank you Lily for capturing various aspects of our protest. The die-in was especially poignant as we remembered the UK cyclists who died in the past 12 months under the wheels of motor vehicles. We read their names out and people lay on the ground with a red ribbon signifying blood, and we had 3 minutes silence.
